Reading List

Books I've read, in no particular order, with a bonus mini-review for each!

Bossypants by Tina Fey
On the one hand, I thought this was a great read, awesome insight into what it's like to be a comedy writer/actor. On the other hand (and let me preface this by saying I love Tina Fey and her work), while I was reading it I kept thinking, what was all the fuss about?

Lipstick Jungle by Candace Bushnell
A powerful piece of chick-lit about three powerful women. I read it, felt woefully inadequate, then surprisingly empowered.

Promises to Keep by Jane Green
I love her books, I do, but this one was a little too grown up for me.

Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear
I read the entire series last Summer--literally couldn't put these books down. There are eight of them, and I can loan you the last one because I was so obsessed I couldn't wait for my turn to check it out at the library!

Fly Away Home by Jennifer Weiner
Does every JW book have to start out with a swimmer? The beginnings of her books make me crazy, but she always manages to convince me to love them by Chapter 5. I ended up loving this book so much I checked out the audio version at the library and when Judith Light (of Who's the Boss? fame) was reading it too slowly for me I picked up a hardcover copy at my local Borders' going out of business sale.

The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
This took me a while to read, meaning that I had to renew it from the library several times. Parts of it were a little research-heavy, but ultimately I loved the book and fully intend to start my own happiness project someday.

On my nightstand (literally):
The Money-Saving Mom's Budget
Unplugged Play
40 Love (picked it up at the library without reading much more than the back cover, so we'll see)
Steady Days
